Memorable Memorial Day Weekend

We all had a very Memorable Memorial Day Weekend! (WARNING: Huge picture post!)

Schuyler was off to Mississippi with his mother and the men in their family, for four days of farm fixin' fun. The poor guys were rained on almost the entire time, but they still managed to get a lot done. Just stick Schuyler on a Front-End Loader and he can always have fun no matter the weather. Boys play with little tractors in the dirt as children and they grow up to play with big tractors in bigger dirt! :o) "Man time" with his uncles and cousins is something Schuyler looks forward to every year, so I am glad that he was able to go again this year, but we are glad that he is home since we all missed him.

Skyler, Madison and I spent a very enjoyable and relaxing 4 days in Matagorda, camping with my parents, my aunt & uncle, my cousin and her son. Boy, did we have some fun! We stayed right on the water and were 5 minutes from the beach. We enjoyed some boating, fishing, crabbing, swimming, sand-digging, sun bathing, outdoor cooking & eating, and a great time visiting with family.

My super sweet cousin Jennifer has a beautiful little boy, Jack. He is the apple of her eyes and after spending the weekend with them, I now see that it is not only because she is his mother. You see, Jack is the happiest and sweetest little 2 year old boy that I have ever met. He may have down syndrome and a few other health issues, but you see right passed that and instead see how very special he is. Everything about him just draws you into him. His laugh lights up a room, his smile brings a smile to every ones face, his completely unexpected and random "HI", just draws you into him, the way that he would mimic my girls was very entertaining, and all of the love that surrounds him by his mother, father, and grandparents just warms my heart. I got a few cute pics of Jack and Jen so please enjoy.

Notice Skyler's sour face in this next picture....I guess we were keeping her from digging. HA! Oh well, I will take it! I am glad to have it since I don't get many of me and my two favorite girls!

I think this picture is funny...they were both so serious about fishing that they almost looked mad. They were so focused that they didn't even know I was there taking a picture of them. HA!

Check out the tounge in the next picture....I got about 10 pictures of her building sand castles and every one had that tongue sticking out. I guess it helped her focus. :o)

Skyler's 1st grade graduation

Skyler's 1st grade graduation was so sweet and I was so proud of her. She received a medal for all A honor roll for the entire year, something she worked very hard for. Great job Skyler, I am very proud of you! Here are a few pictures from her ceremony.

1st Place Red Raiders 2009

Our softball team got 1st place this season. The girls were so excited when we learned the news that it was first place. If you recall http://kutinafamily.blogspot.com/2009/02/coach-shelley.html the beginning of the season I signed up to be the assistant coach and ended up being the coach after coach Cody could never make it to any games or practices. He is a very busy man. I actually discovered that I enjoyed it and think I might sign up to "officially" be the coach next season. At the party the parents and kids gave me a gift card to Chilli's and a really cute tote that had our team name and some softballs sewn on the front and the girls had all signed their names on the back. Sooooo sweet!!! The girls did real well and Skyler really seemed to step up this season, showing that she is starting to understand the game. Here are some pictures from closing ceremonies and our party.

This season was the first time that she noticed that the 1st place trophy is bigger than all of the other trophies. She was very proud of herself and her team.

Skyler has a trophy collection shelf and when we got home, her and daddy ran up-stairs to place the trophy on her shelf. She was very fast to say "pretty soon you are going to have to build me a bigger shelf, daddy". :o) We are both very proud of her.

Spring Time in Texas

Spring time in Texas means it goes from cold to hot almost over night. Don't get me wrong, we are LOVIN' the warm weather. No matter what the girls seem to be doing these days they are almost always doing it outdoors. From swiming, to playing in the sprinkler, playing in the playscape fort, to hunting grasshoppers, they are enjoying Spring Time in Texas. (eventhough it may feel like Summer) :o)
IMG_3014
Ok....I have a confession....I could not find the matching top and bottom to Madison bathing suits so she ended up being with this. Oh and why are her panties still on under it??? Who knows. It seems her mom should have caught that but no telling where she was. HA!
IMG_2993
So she wasn't outside in this next picture but I had to post it because I swear her eyes change colors all the time. I often say her eyes are like a mood ring, the color changes with her mood. Now, if I can only figure out what color means what mood we will be alright.
IMG_2830
Look at Skyler swim! She is floatie and life jacket free! She is swiming all over the pool with her very finely tuned skill of doggy paddle with a dash of underwater swiming. Just try throwing something in the pool and dare her to swim to the bottom and get it. She begs for it like a dog begs for a ball to be thrown. :o)
IMG_2984
Ok....note to self....freshly cut grass, sprinklers and little wet running feet is a recipe for some very messy grass covered children. You think you know but you don't....when taking off Madison bathing suit, about 3 hours after washing of the what seemed like glued on grass from head to toe, we discovered that there were grass clippings stuck all over her nether regions.
IMG_3017
Nothing says spring time like a good ole' fashion bug hunt!
IMG_3062
Awww....there it is!!!! And as stated before Skyler LOVES anything that is living. She is not picky, bugs, worms, cats, dogs, snails, chickens, grasshoppers, and yes I said worms!
G-R-O-S-S!!!

Special Sunny Sweet Sunday

I can not think of a better way to have spent Mother's Day. We went out for breakfast, I was able to get some pretty good pictures of the girls, went swimming at my mom's house, relaxed around the house, and Schuyler and I went to the movies.

Taking pictures of my girls is something that I truly enjoy, I just wish I had more time to do it. They are changing so much daily and I love to capture it on camera.

Here is the only decent one of the two of them together....no one is spacing off, picking their nose, or plucking grass, and they even look like they love each other. :o)

At three Madison is not the best at getting her picture taken but we got a few cute ones none the less. Yes, the curly hair that I have been fighting has finally won. She is a full fledged curly, blonde haired little girl.

Skyler and Madison are so very different in many ways. Madison is our spirited, feisty, loud talker, daring, laid back, tough, scared of all things creepy crawly, loves playing dress up, a little bossy, curly cotton top, little 3 yr old who knows how to melt her daddy's heart.

Skyler is our tender-hearted, lovable, snuggly, lover of all bugs and animals, many friends, shyness lacking, very smart, freckle faced, sun kissed hair with lovely highlights 6yr old, who owns the heart of more grown-ups than she realizes.
At six, Skyler is almost a pro a taking pictures with a little help from mommy. I guess it doesn't hurt that she is so darn photogenic. :o)

I love these two little girls more than I can explain....I am so lucky to have two happy and healthy children who light up my world! Happy Mother's Day to all you moms!

Character Day at School

Friday was Character day at Skyler's school. You had to dress like a character from a book and bring the book. We chose Strawberry Shortcake. They had a parade through the school where all the kids got to show off their costumes and then read their book in their class. It was a nice and fun way to encourage them to read.
